Model Kit Cux 87 Crab Cutter

Crab cutters are boats specially designed for crab fishing. They are usually small to medium-sized, manoeuvrable and robustly built to withstand the rough conditions at sea. North Sea prawns are caught with special nets called crab nets or crab nets. These nets are dragged across the seabed and trap the crabs. Crab boats have an open working area on deck where the caught crabs can be sorted and processed.

Cux 87 is a typical German crab trawler, built by the “Deutsche Krabbenkutter Werft”, as you can still find them in many small harbours along the North German coast. The classic vibrating screens and crab boilers can also be found on deck of this beautiful model.
