Renult R5 Alpine Rally
The Renault 5 turbo was a special version of Renault’s small car Renault 5 that was produced during 1980-1984. It has the engine behind the driver mounted longitudinally and drive to the rear wheels – making it strictly a two-seater. The model was designed to be used in rallying and adopted the same concept that the Lancia Stratos had used to reap success in the sport. The car didn’t have very many parts in common with the front-wheel drive standard model of the Renault 5, but the idea was of course that the rally car would increase interest in the regular cars.
